Here’s how Petite Plume fits your child compared to other brands you might be considering, so you know before it’s in your cart.
Find your child’s Petite Plume size on the left. Twins wear the same number the same way — your size carries straight over. Strangers use the same number but cut it shorter or longer, so don’t trust the label alone.
Where the number just works. At 6-12M, Petite Plume lines up with every brand we track — the size carries straight over.
Where labels drift. The exceptions are the “strangers” above — e.g. at size 6, Brooks Brothers Kids, Polo Ralph Lauren Kids, Fabletics cut the same number differently. Check those before you trust the label.
Bottom line: for most sizes, a Petite Plume number is a safe bet elsewhere — measure once, then double-check only the handful of “stranger” brands above.

This is what parents report anecdotally — crowd sentiment, not a Little & Youth determination. Our sizing above is computed from Petite Plume’s own published chart; the notes here come from public parent discussion.
Petite Plume’s kids’ sleepwear runs true to size, and the classic twill and flannel pieces are cut relaxed rather than snug — with one deliberate exception, the Pima Snug Fit line. Of the parents and gift-givers who rated fit on Petite Plume’s own reviews, the large majority chose ‘true to size’, and the written reviews keep returning to the same point: the button-up sets and nightgowns are loose, ‘not tight’, a welcome change from skin-tight kids’ pajamas. The brand calls its nightgowns a ‘classic relaxed silhouette’ and says the twill blends cotton with an inherently flame-retardant fiber rather than chemical treatments. The Pima sets are the opposite by design — Petite Plume describes a ‘secure and snug fit’ — and several parents say to size up in them. On the woven cotton, a minority found sets a little small or short, and a handful report shrinkage in the dryer, so hang-drying is the common advice; plenty of families size up on purpose and roll the sleeves. In the larger sizes a few found the legs long. Softness, quality and hand-me-down durability are near-universal praise at a luxury price.

Not usually for the twill and flannel pieces, unless you want extra wear time or your child is between sizes — many families do this and roll the sleeves. In the Pima Snug Fit line, several parents recommend going up a size.
They can in the dryer. A handful of parents report the cotton shrinking, mostly in length, and hang-drying is the common fix. Most say the fabric holds up and softens wash after wash.
The twill and flannel styles are woven and relaxed, and Petite Plume says the fabric includes an inherently flame-retardant fiber. The Pima sets are a soft knit cut for a ‘secure and snug fit’ and are labelled not flame-resistant, which is why they sit close to the body.
Petite Plume publishes height, weight, chest, waist, hip in its size chart. Height is the primary driver, and the chest/waist figures let you confirm body fit for a child between sizes.
Petite Plume’s socks are sized by shoe size, not age — buy for your child’s current shoe size, and if they fall between two ranges choose the smaller so the sock stays up. See how every kids’ shoe brand runs and how wide each is cut on our kids’ shoe sizing guide.
Petite Plume is sold on its own site and through select retailers.
