Does “husky” mean my son is overweight?
No. Husky describes a cut, not a child — it's for a boy who's broader through the waist and hips than a regular size allows, at any weight. The chest, shoulders and length stay the regular size; only the waist and hips grow.
Why not just buy the next size up?
Sizing up in a regular adds waist room, but it also lengthens the legs and rise — so the pants hang long and still may not fit the hips. A husky keeps his regular length and adds the room where he needs it.
Does husky change the length?
No — the height guidance stays the same as the regular size; only the waist and hips grow. (A few brands nudge the rise; we note it when they do.)
Is husky only for pants?
Mostly bottoms, but some brands also cut husky tops — useful when sizing up a regular shirt for width leaves the sleeves too long. Where a brand offers husky tops, we show it.
Do husky pants come with adjustable waistbands?
Some do — an internal elastic tab lets one size cover a range. A regular size with that tab is a real alternative to a husky size.
My son is shorter than average and husky — what then?
